Stuck in a Self Employment Grind?Bored with Work at Home
Even those who achieve their dreams can find themselves stuck in a self employment grind. Anyone can become bored with work at home...and anyone can overcome it.
It’s easy to fall into a little bit of a rut with any job; it’s even easy to become bored with work at home. In the beginning, self employment is a sought-after goal and even a daily battle. It’s difficult to build a reputation, to find steady jobs and to create a workable work at home budget. The hours are long and the weeks free of any days off; there's always a lot to do when getting started with self employment. Once all that initial excitement has faded and self employment becomes steady, however, it’s easy to get stuck in a self employment grind. Every day can feel like the same one, over and over. Even after all that hard work, anyone can grow bored with work at home. Even a "dream job" isn't free of pitfalls. Stuck in a Self Employment GrindHow does a professional know they’re stuck in a self employment grind? The symptoms are easy to spot. Every project seems stale, the same, repetition of all that’s been done before. It’s also harder and harder to get the work done on time, easier and easier to get distracted and taken off-track. Suddenly, there’s a scramble to be finished at the end of every deadline. Work at home has suddenly gone from great…to grating. Bored with Work at HomeWhen self employment seems more like drudgery than a dream, it’s a sure sign of being bored with work at home. Those who not only live at home but work in it can find themselves stricken with a mean case of cabin fever - spending many of one’s waking hours in one location will easily do this. Get Back on TrackGet out of the house. This is the first step toward stepping out of a self employment grind, and getting back to simply working. Switch things up a bit. When professionals have the same sort of projects and the same sort of work to do every single day, it can begin to feel extremely exhausting. Try doing something completely different - even if there’s no promise of payment. If nothing else, this new element can be added to a personal Web site or portfolio to show off more of a working range. Take a break. Schedule an extra day off, or take off a weekday that would normally be dedicated to working. Enjoy some down time to enjoy the work anew once the break is over.
