Five Reasons to try Self Employment

Why be self employed? Those who work for themselves or work at home have the added responsibility of finding their own work, claiming their own taxes and taking care of themselves in every way possible. It can be pretty exhausting to rely solely upon oneself. But, there are at least five reasons to give self employment a try:

Self employment hours can’t be beat. There’s no job that’s ever going to be quite as convenient as self employment. Those who work for themselves and work at home decide when they work - either ten-hour stretches at a time four days a week, five-hour intervals through seven days of the week or something that’s totally unique to the professional, self employment hours are the best around…because they’re flexible.

It doesn’t get more comfortable than a work at home work environment. When individuals create their own work space in their own home and on their own terms, they’re much more likely to enjoy the hours which are spent on the job. Self employment is truly enjoyable when the self employed professional has a space to call their own “office.”

The luxury of choosing. In self employment, professionals must strive to find their own jobs and opportunities. This is called the luxury of choosing - and it can be wonderful. Though job searching is often tedious, it’s still nice at the end of the search to be the one who decides which jobs might suit and which will not.

Office dress not required. Want to work in bare feet? Turn the radio up loud? Keep the curlers in despite the afternoon hour? In self employment, any attire will do. From bathrobes to ball gowns, when working at home it’s casual day every day.

Loving the job. How many professionals can truly say they love what they do, and that they have a very personal stake in their own career? In self employment, this should always be true. Professionals who work for themselves seek out their own jobs, carve their own path and call the shots on their own careers. If for no other reason, this is enough for many to give self employment a try.
